July 20, 2018, was a day of great civic pride in East Lyme.  On this Celebrate East Lyme Day, the town officially dedicated the Main St. Park at the intersection of Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.  The East Lyme Public Trust Foundation, along with Niantic Main Street, Niantic Lions Club, and the Rotary Club, was honored to serve on the Parks and Recreation subcommittee, which worked on the design of the park.

Before the dedication, East Lyme Parks and Recreation Director Dave Putnam pointed out that this park will be a “welcoming showpiece for Niantic with open views of the bay”.  He said, “I think it’s going to be a great addition to Main Street. …This is another example of the town coming together and making the town better.” The Public Trust Foundation donated $3,850 to sponsor half of the benches in the park.  From these benches people can view the boats, the trains, and the bustle on Main Street.  This Centerpiece offers a view of the bay and of our town in which we can take pride, as a gathering place, or just a place for relaxing reflection.
